You thought you knew the legend...[/b]
For centuries, the story of Robin Hood and his band of merry men have captured the hearts of thousands of people. You have grown up thinking you knew the stories and the characters. We are here to prove you wrong.
The English are invading...[/b]
King William the Conqueror has had his eyes on the land of Wales for quite some time. Now, he feels that the time is ripe. Sending a regiment of warriors, they make their way into the land of Elfael. Those who dwell there are peaceful, governed by their king. But that will soon change. The English soldiers, led by Count Falkes de Braose who is a young noble hoping to distinguish himself in the eyes of the English king, launch a surprise attack on Caer Cadarn, home to the Elfael rulers. Those inside are taken by surprise; the ones who fight back are slaughtered mercilessly, including the rightful king of Elfael and his family. Only one escapes. The eldest son and heir to the throne, Bran ap Brychan.
They will kill all who stand in their way...[/b]
Bran and his friend, the warrior Iwan Tedwyr, flee into the forest known as Coed Cadw. Mourning the loss of his family, the prince nurses a bitterness and hatred towards the English warriors who have invaded his homeland and killed his family. He resents the mistreatment of his people and his country. The once happy land of Elfael is now an unjust place; the Count and his warriors set strict laws and take what they please from the villages and towns. Many are turned out of their homes; those who openly oppose the new English rule are hung to be "an example to the other Welsh rebels".
Driven by anger, Bran and Iwan attack an English hunting party. Things are going well until another enemy party rides to the rescue. Iwan takes an arrow in the shoulder and things seem to go downhill from there. The two manage to escape into the heart of the forest where even the English warriors will not go. There the two slowly heal and as they heal they begin to create a plan to subtly undermine the takeover of the country that they love.
Something brews in Coed Cadw...[/b]
Count Falkes de Braose was pleased with how smoothly his takeover of Elfael had gone. The royal family had been dispatched of, except for that troublesome son but judging from the last report, he and that bodyguard of his were dead by now. Oh yes, the Count feels that King William will be quite pleased with his progress.
That is, he feels that way until wagons start to disappear. Entire cartloads laden with food for the warriors under his command simply... vanish. The food in the carts somehow finds it's way onto the doorsteps of the poor people of Elfael. Those in charge of delivering the carts come with reports of a huge raven with a murderous beak, huge wings, and the legs of a human man haunting the forest. Groups of patrolling Englishmen are suddenly waylaid by hidden beings in the forest, but somewhere near the scene there can always be found a raven feather.
There is hope for the people of Elfael. There is one among them who is willing to make a stand against the English invaders, and those who have been turned out of their own homes make their way into the forest to search for him.
The resistance is beginning...[/b]
Meanwhile, Bran ap Brychan, Prince of Elfael and the phantom raven, begins to gather men to himself. Deep within Coed Cadw, his band of men begins to grow. They waylay the English nobles traversing the roads, robbing them in order to help support the Welsh people whom they are bleeding dry. Bands of English warriors suddenly disappear on patrol. Everything is gone, including their horses; all that is left a helmet... with a raven feather.
While Count Falkes de Braose feels that the huge raven his warriors claim to see is merely a fantasy thought up by superstitious fools, he knows that somewhere out there is a group who are defying his rule. King William fears he will lose his control over Elfael, and thus sends more soldiers. Spies are sent to probe through the villages to see what they can learn of this new menace. The people are warned that if they join this mysterious band, they will be considered an outlaw. A price will be put on their heads and they will be hunted down till they are caught and killed.
Every able-bodied warrior is needed...[/b]
Whether you be an English soldier or a Welsh outlaw, everyone is needed. The call has gone out. Those who sit on the fence are dragged into the conflict between the two peoples whether they wish to be or not. It is a land of subterfuge, espionage, deception, double-crossing, patriotism, and greed. Who's side will win in the end? Only time will tell. But you must come away first. Come and fight or follow
