Karina woke up to a slimy sensation on her right cheek. She slowly opened her eyes to realize she was sleep on the floor of the stables. She couldn't remember why she was here. The wetness on her cheek came from her horse, Hazel. Karina smiled and stood up.
She dusted the hay off her short sleeve green shirt and blue jeans and walked over too Hazel. "Morning, Haze. Hungry?" The horse let out a loud neigh and Karina pulled a small pack of carrots out of her pocket. She pulled open the paper and dumped the carrots into the food bin. She laughed as Hazel scarfed down the carrots. Karina stroked Haze's soft mane, as she suddenly had a vision.
Her dark blue eyes turned pitch black and the vision began. Karina saw herself riding Hazel through the stables when her hrse stopped, suddenly. She looked up and saw someone standing in front of her. Just as she took a look at the person, the vision ended. She turned around and attached Hazel's saddle on her back. She jumped up onto the horse's back and rode out of the stall and outside.
The summer air was warm as it touched her skin. Her brown hair flew back as Hazel caught speed as she ran. The wind felt so perfect. She smiled as her horse continued running. Then Hazel stopped. Karina caught the rein, catching her just before she fell off. The person from her vision stood in front of her. Karina said, "I've seen you before." She crawled off the horse and walked toward the person. "I'm Karina."She said, smiling.

"Move over." Nate growled as he shoulder barged Kurai again, trying to push the large black horse over so he could get the halter collar on. The horse swung his head taking a playful snap of his teeth at Nate, a feral growl echoed from the back of Nate's throat. "Do that one more time and you'll be dog chow." Kurai tossed his head with a snort and returned back to shaking his hay net making Nate smile at just how awkward this horse had to be. Kurai was reknown around the yard for being the most bad tempered horse but his reactions were learnt from having lived wild most of his life. Patting Kurai's neck the horse turned to investigate, nostrils blowing hard, wondering if Nate had brought along anything that was edible. It was that which allowed Nate to slip on the halter and attach the rope, grinning at Kurai's outraged stamping. "Come on let's get you some exercise"
Kurai's hooves echoed around the stable as Nate lead him down the cement walkway that eventually lead out on to the fields, he could feel Kurai's pace pick up as a new energy leaked into his muscles with the knowledge that soon they would be out there. Pulling him to a halt Nate vaulted on to Kurai's back, adjusting his seat accordingly as to not apply to much pressure to the horse's back. Nate was one of the slim few who rode without tack partially because there wasn't a person brave enough to attempt saddling Kurai let alone putting their fingers in his mouth for a bit but because Nate had learned with out and understood Kurai's reluctance to be tamed. His heels had barely squeezed Kurai and the horse was off walking with each step getting faster, he seemed to almost bounce on his hooves. With his limbs stretched Kurai leapt into a gallop bounding away over the fields, fences and hedges were no obstruction to this flight.
Nate had let Kurai have his head during this gallop, every so often twitching with the guide rope to keep himself seated. Applying pressure with his seat bones Kurai slowed, tossing his mane indicating that he wasn't done running yet. Nate leaned down to stroke the horse's glossy coat, they'd left the stables sight ages ago and Nate now wanted to change. He'd ran with Kurai before and it had always been fun, the two made an impressive pair. Dismounting Nate removed the halter from Kurai rubbing where the bands had been to wipe away the sweat that had formed, the horse knickerd in thanks. Abruptly Kurai threw up his head, his ears swivelling back and forth and his black eyes staring into the distance. Nate's breathing shallowed as he too listened, tasting the air for any scents but none came. Kurai bolted heading straight for a copse of trees, a curse bellowed from Nate who took up hot pursuit.
Stopping in his tracks Nate could feel vibrations in the ground, something was fast approaching. Turning he squared his shoulders, standing his ground. A horse skidded to a stop infront of him nearly pitching it's rider off, Nate slide to the side seeing if he could help in any way. The rider dismounted and then began introductions. "I'm Nate. I stable my horse at the Croatan stables, you might have seen me around." Nate eyed the girl warily, he wasn't one for socialising and couldn't place having ever seen her. "You sure your OK?"

Karina rubbed Hazel's side to calm her down after that quick stop. But she continued to shake her mane wildly. Then a thought occurred to her. Hazel never acts this way around other people. And I don't have visions over some stranger I'll meet and never see again. There is something strange about him.She thought to herself. She looked back up at him as he introduced himself. Karina smiled gently and looked at his face. His expression seemed just a slight bit worried, but only a little. In his eyes, she could tell he was confused. But who wouldn't be if a complete stranger came up to them and said, "I know you!" As all these thing rush through her mind, he asks if she is alright.
He probably thinks I'm insane, she thought. She looked back him and he expected an answer back so she smiled again and said, "Oh, right, I probably saw you around there. Hazel here stays there, too. She had to lie. What was she supposed to do? Tell him she saw him in a vision? Then he would definitely think she was crazy. "And I'm fine. Just a shook up." She kept stroking Hazel's mane, but Hazel shook her head, knocking her hand off. Hazel nudged Karina toward Nate slightly. After this happening about 3 time, she gave up and was about to ask what her horse wanted her to say. But a second vision occurred simultaneously. Her face went blank and the picture in her head came on. It was a clip of Nate again. Only it included a secret. Nate was transforming into a wolf! A wolf! There was only one explanation for this: he was a chosen one. The vision ended and Karina knew exactly what to say. "I know about you."She said lowering her voice to a whisper, "You're one of the chosen few aren't you?" She looked at him wide-eyed, anxiously waiting on a reply.
