Roanoke, North Carolina- 1587
A whole colony of settlers disappeared without notice or anything left behind save for one word engraved into a tree trunk: "Croatan." The one other thing left behind that no one else knew about was a small group of horses that was left inside of a barn right outside the colony. These horses became infected with disease and were unable to fight it off without people around to help them. However, a tribe of Chesepian Indians were riding through and found this group of animals. They called upon a shaman in the tribe to use witchcraft to save them, and the horses were spared.
To add on to the good fortune of the creatures, the Indians had also called upon an immortal god to help them keep these horses safe for the rest of eternity, so the god gave all of these horses immortality to keep for themselves. He also said that if the horses can pick permanent riders with matching souls and Indian ancestors, the human rider can also become immortal and gain an ability that matches their personality.
Now it is the year 2010 and the horses have begun choosing their immortal riders to stay with them, but a new vicious force is brewing. A man is trying to seek out these horses and their riders to obtain the immortality for himself...
